East German AK47 Bayonet Frog & Straps

AK Bayonet Frogs & Straps
Custom Replicas Built by Krklek

All frog sets are based on East German metal components. East German sets (DDR) are characterized by a large D-ring and cotton web wrist strap. DDR sets are normally colored with a "medium gray" dye on the leather and the cotton strap is also gray, though some rare sets are light medium brown leather with a matching leather strap.

Here are the sets that I have made and are currently available for purchase, though they may not be "in stock" if any entries have red text, they may be out of stock at the time, though I work most days building new ones, so you'll have to check back for availability concerning the set your interested in

Russian #1
simulated pebble grain leather w/ olive cotton strap
notice the simulated pebble grain leather, actually matches some older Russian originals

East German gray cotton straps are re-dyed "olive-green-khaki" like Russian straps

Russian #2
black set w/ olive cotton strap

Some original Russian frogs had black leather. Whether this was done in times of shortage of the brown pebble grain leather or was an arsenal refurb is unknown, they are nonetheless duplicates of originals.

pic coming soon

Russian #3
set based on the shallow D-ring

Since I'm not a machinist, nor do I know anyone that is, all sets that are based on the correct shallow D-ring are non-returnable due to the labor intensive time that it takes to make the D-ring. All D-rings are made by hand, and as such, I alone, will decide when and if I want to "stock" these; so.....these are sold "as is - all sales are final" and will not be placed back into "stock" should you have buyer's remorse.

Bulgarian #4
This may look black, but it is very dark maroon/brown
the frog set is still in the works, as I have not mixed any dark brown dye yet

Chinese #5a
Light brown/dark tan leather with green cotton wrist strap

Chinese #5b
Yellowish/mustard tan leather with green wrist strap
Polish #6
Light brown/dark tan leather w/striping and correct hour glass stitching
East German #7a
gray leather w/ gray cotton strap

East German #7b
Lighter brown leather with matching leather strap
A brown leather frog and strap was used on some East German type 1 bayonets, as to the reason why they used this color (special unit or maybe a special assignment), is still unknown

pic on the way

Hungarian Belt Loop #8
light brown/dark tan leather with D-ring and single hollow backed rivet

Yugoslavian #9
black leather w/ matching strap
All black frog and wrist strap. These also have been observed with light tan leather and a greenish/light tan cotton wrist strap with a brass colored thorn

GENERAL INFO

The above frogs are made with hollow backed rivets. If you would like to have them made with solid backed rivets, please make sure to tell me that before I make them. If you contact me and want different rivets and the frog has already been made, then a "re-rivet" charge of $5 will be assessed and this payment must be received before the item will be shipping.

All frog sets have been treated with a leather preservative to help the leather retain its' pliability, so it won't tear or crack under normal use for quite some time. I suggest you buy a small bottle of Neetsfoot Oil and apply the oil (sparingly) once a year to keep the frog and/or strap in good shape. NOTE - on lighter colored leather, if too much Neetsfoot Oil is used, the oil will darken the leather, with the possibility that the leather will stay dark permanently. So, please, use it sparingly!!!! And, DO NOT oil the cotton straps. If you do, the oil will ruin and stain the cotton, but I would be "more than happy" to sell you another strap when your excuse turns out to be, "I did it because Aliens abducted me and stole my brain!!!"

If you have any suggestions or need just a partial set (frog or strap only), e-mail me as shown under CONTACT ME and let me know what you're interested in.

Russian Full Sets - set includes frog and strap (due to necessity of having to laminate/glue two pieces of leather together for the simulated pebble grain).

Russian 83/85 (type3) Frog - includes the frog only (due to necessity of having to laminate/glue two pieces of leather together for the simulated pebble grain).

Russian Full Sets / Shallow D-ring - set includes frog and strap (due to necessity of having to laminate/glue two pieces of leather together for the simulated pebble grain and having to fabricate the hand made D-ring).

Full sets / other Countries - sets include the frogs (all colors with or without lines) and straps (leather or cotton)

Frogs only - only the frog (all colors with or without lines) NOTE - Russian frogs are only available as outlined above

Straps only - the straps (leather or cotton)

Hungarian Style Belt Loop - the belt loop (all colors)

COLOR MATCHING & Sales

I am not a large corporation that mixes 5000 gallons of dye each day. I make these frog and straps one at a time since I enjoy making them, and like the fact the I'm giving pleasure to the ones that are purchasing them and I cannot guarantee that each "individual" set will match the next. These bayonet accessories are sold "as is" and are not guaranteed as far as color or color matching are concerned. All sales are final. If the frog has a defect, I will take it back (shipping the item back to me is the buyer's responsibility), repair the defect and then mail it back to you. I will NOT and CANNOT re-stock the set as I do not have any stock to begin with. So, if buyer's remorse sets in after the order is placed and "before" any work has started, I will refund your money. But, if I have already started work on your order and you change your mind, then you'll just have to live with your remorse. I don't play games and I expect not to have games played on me, either. If you order a set, I will expect you to live up to your word and carry through with the transaction. All items are made after the order is placed. Since these are "hand made" items and built with the intention of being a visual and complementary accessory, rather than a every day use and/or pseudo military item, I cannot and will not be held responsible or liable for any consequential damage that comes from owning, possessing or using of these items.

THANK YOU

I want to thank you for stopping by and I hope you'll be happy to see your completed bayonet as it was meant to be, with a "frog and wrist strap". So, the next time you see a "naked" bayonet, think of my Frogs and Wrist Straps. I'll do my best to put some "clothes" on your newly purchased item!!!

have a great day,

Kerry
