Question: REFERING TO "SOME GUY THINKS WERE FULL OF IT"..........well you are, so far you havent given a straight and full answer on which ak is the better gun. alot of people ask you the differnces and which one is over all the better rifle and all you do is answer like this. "well both of them are good, it all depends on what you like." thats BS, i can tell you right now that a Ferrari is better than a Corvette and a Corvette is better than a Honda, now that is a straight answer. if your the "expert on ak's" answer the questions straight on based on what you know, without twisting sh!t around. |

Answer: OK OK here you go tough guy
Here's some of my opinions on AK47s and such..
Norinco, great but old, haven't been imported for so many years, good luck getting a new ones it's tougher and tougher, make sure it isn't shot out on you. We can find them online, but sight unseen .. you know.
WASR - see previous posts, only a last resort or if it's free (even then I'd sell it and upgrade)
Maadi - Made for import, great rifles, made well, good materials good workmen put it together. but old also, so make sure it's not shot out.. Also no bayonet lug (which is a deal breaker for me)
All other Foreign AK47s are now US made - Most of these are US made so I'll offer what I can on the parts kits used.
Yugo parts kits are cool looking, but not chrome barrels so they loose a few points for that.
Romainian kits are strong, most I've seen are in great shape, chrome barrels, only downside on these is there are so many of them around now if thats really a problem.
Polish - nice looking kits, have a good builder make you a rifle on one of these and you're good to go. Some weird parts, but thats what makes collecting AK47s so fun.
AMD-65 - These are pretty cool. I never liked them untill I owned one, now I respect it. It still looks weird to me, but I'm getting used to it. These also need to have a barrel extention, most people weld on a long muzzle break to do this.
But these are also older, so watch out for poor builds and shot out barrels
Krink - These are basicaly a short Ak47. So short it's not a rifle anymore it's a Taxed Short Barreled Rifle. So all the trouble to get a legal one is what makes this one less interesting to me. Fake suppressors or barrel extensions can be added permanentaly to make them legally into rifles. Their cost is usually over a grand.
AK47 Pistols - US made works of art. I can see many of the major AK47 builders are having fun designing smaller and cooler looking pistols from AK47 parts. These little guys are fun to shoot and look great. Also interesting to me because they are an American invention, no military in Russia or the COM Block ever made an AK47 pistol other than prototypes, so these are our way of improving on and adapting the AK47
Receivers - I live out west so we see mostly Ewbank or Global receivers. Now I know of at least 4 AK47 builders who build their rifles on Ewbank receivers and 2 who use Global so seeing their name on the rifle / receiver does not make them the builder. Thats not going to include any privatly made rifles that will also have the Ewbank or Global receivers either.
I like both of these receivers. They both get more good reviews than bad on our review websites. I have shot both and they are solid
Stocks:
Underfolders - Kinda lame really. They look cool as heck in pictures, but they are uncomfortable to shoot extended because your shoulder has nowhere to go, and they can get snagged up easily with any type of gear. When folded they are in the way of where you need to hold the rifle when it's folded? who decided on that idea? Lastly they only work on the 30 or under mags, i like 40s or drums..
Wire Side folders - (German / Romainian) my favorites, shoot great weigh nothing, fold out of the way. only issue is they cost a bunch now.
Plastic side folders - Cool I guess, I like stuff to fold to the right so it can be carried easier, or in case you have optics mount being used, but these are still cool.
AMD side folder - Cool, on an AMD, don't put one of these on any other versions though as you'd need to replace the trunion and cut a big notch in your receiver.. = lots of money to do
Hope this helps someone out there..
