Yugo vs German AK Bayonets:
These bayos look about
the same, so it can be difficult to tell
them apart

Although these two look the same to most
people there are a few easy ways to tell them apart.
Most obvious is the frog (belt loop) assuming it's there
and correct, the Yugo is a tan color while the German is
a grey color
A second way to tell them
apart is the lump on the scabbard. The Yugo has a smaller
bump on the back while the German has a larger bump that
wraps around to both sides

Here are two of each so you can see front
and back of both types at one time

Same idea but this time they are in the
scabbards

The picture above shows some
of the more detailed differences, The german is on the
left, Yugo on the right. You can see the more pronounced
Yugo AK bayo serial number in the scabbard and most Yugos
have a "K" number engraved or molded into the bottom of
the scabbard (and on the blade)
In the picture above it's
clear that the Yugo bayo hilt is more polished, you don't
see the pins that hold the hilt to the blade
The lug on the scabbard for
the wire cutter is also different, On the German the lug
has a radius while the Yugo's lug is flat

Front and back view of the frogs, (belt
loops) besides the color, the german is longer (for their
larger web gear) they are pretty close otherwise however

Another close up of the hilts of each.
Above unmarked and below the same pic highlighting the
pins seen in the German bayonets
